How to Tune Your Shark Guitar

The Shark Convertible Bridge has Precision Tuners built into the bridge itself. They work exactly like headstock tuners with better stability and easier access.

Before You Start

Set your bridge to Tremolo Mode for tuning. You can tune in Fixed-Bridge Mode, but you'll need slight adjustments when switching back.

Tuning with an Electronic Tuner

• Connect your tuner.

• Pick the low E string cleanly.

• Read the display:

  • Flat (♭) or left: Turn the bridge tuner clockwise to raise pitch.

  • Sharp (♯) or right: Turn counterclockwise to lower pitch.

  • Centered or green: Move to next string.

• Repeat for all six strings: A, D, G, B, high E.

Make Multiple Passes

After tuning all six strings once, go through them again. Tremolo-equipped guitars need several full passes as the spring system settles.

• Quick tip: On your first pass, tune each string slightly sharp (about 5-10 cents high). This speeds up the process.

• After each pass, work the tremolo arm through its full range several times. This settles the strings. Check tuning again.

Tuning by Ear (5th Fret Method)

Standard method:

• 5th fret low E = open A

• 5th fret A = open D

• 5th fret D = open G

• 4th fret G = open B (only exception)

• 5th fret B = open high E

Harmonic Method (Cleaner Pitch Comparison)

Lightly touch the string directly over the fret wire without pressing down. Pick the string and immediately lift your finger.

• 7th fret harmonic low E = 5th fret harmonic A

• 7th fret harmonic A = 5th fret harmonic D

• 7th fret harmonic D = 5th fret harmonic G

• 7th fret harmonic low E = open B

• 7th fret harmonic A = 5th fret harmonic high E

When two harmonics play together, you'll hear a flutter if the tuning is off. Adjust until the flutter disappears.

Common Alternative Tunings

• Drop D (DADGBE): Lower low E one step to D.

• Drop C (CGCFAD): All strings down one step, then drop low string one more.

• Half-Step Down (Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb): Everything down one semitone.

• Open G (DGDGBD): For slide guitar.

• DADGAD: Folk and Celtic styles.

For extreme drop tunings (Drop B, Drop A, lower), use heavier gauge strings.
