Store vs 3D Designer: Which Is Right For Me?

A Shark guitar can reach you two ways. You can pick one from the Store, a library of finished designs ready to order. Or you can open the 3D Designer and build one from the ground up. It is easy to read that as a split between players who want something off the shelf and players who want to customize. That is not quite how it works.

The Store and the 3D Designer are two doors into the same system. Every guitar in the Store was designed in the 3D Designer, and any Store design can be opened right back up in it. So the real question is not which one is "the custom one." It is how much of the guitar you want to decide yourself.

The Short Answer

• Start in the Store if you want to browse finished, balanced designs and order one as it is. You still choose the key details, like the neck profile, pickups, effects, fret count, and scale length, right on the product page.
• Start in the 3D Designer if you have something specific in mind and want the full set of parameters open to you: every wood, the finish and colors, the neck profile down to its exact shape and dimensions, inlays, hardware colors, and far more.
• Either way, you are not locked in. Any Store design opens right up in the Designer, and any Designer build saves to your own library. You can move between them whenever you want.

If that already settled it, the Store and the 3D Designer are ready when you are. If not, one question really decides it.

How Much Do You Want to Decide Yourself?

Some players know exactly what they want: a particular wood pairing, a certain neck carve, a color they have in mind. For them, the Designer is the place. It opens the full set of choices, from body and top woods to the neck profile and its exact dimensions, fret material, inlays, and anodized hardware colors, with each component's price and an estimated weight updating as they go. Far more of the guitar is in your hands here than anywhere else.

Others would rather start from something that already works. The Store is a set of complete designs the Shark team has already balanced, with the woods, finish, hardware, and electronics chosen to sit well together. Starting there does not mean giving up choice: each product page still lets you set the neck profile from a curated list, pick your pickup set and FX pack, and choose your fret count and scale length. It is a shorter set of decisions, already pointed in a good direction. When you want to take one further, the same design opens in the Designer for everything else.

A Closer Look at the Store

The Store is a library of finished designs. The ones marked with a star are the most-ordered. Filters narrow the field by body type, headstock style, fret count, tonal character, and look. Store listings open on a live 3D model you can rotate, zoom, and pan, so you can look the instrument over from every angle before you decide.

When a design is right, you can add it to the cart and order it as configured, or press Customize to load that exact design into the 3D Designer and change anything before you order. The Store is the simple, guided path: finished ideas, the popular adjustments within easy reach, and a clear view of each build before you commit.

A Closer Look at the 3D Designer

The Designer is where a guitar becomes specifically yours, and where the most is in your hands. Start from a curated template or from a blank canvas, then shape every part: the body, top, neck, and fretboard woods; the finish, whether a stain that shows the grain or a solid color; hardware colors from the titanium anodization palette; the neck profile down to its nut width, thickness, radius, and scalloping; fret count and material; inlays and engraving. Where the Store gives you the popular choices, the Designer gives you nearly all of them.

The menus work the way a modern character-creation screen does. Add a component, click it, and its options open in a side panel. As you build, the Designer shows each component's price, the running total, and an estimated weight, so nothing about the guitar is a surprise before you order. The specifications you set feed directly into the factory's system, with no one re-entering them by hand between your design and the production floor. Save your build to your personal library to compare versions, share it, or come back and order when you are ready.

Two Doors, One System

The Store and the Designer are not a fork in the road. They are connected at every step. Every Store guitar was created in the Designer, which is also where the team designs new Store models. The Designer's own library, the row of designs along the bottom, includes those Store models alongside anything you have saved, so you can pick one as a starting point. And the Customize button on any Store listing carries that build straight into the Designer.

So you do not have to choose the "right" door at the start. Browse the Store, find something close, and open it in the Designer to make it yours. Or build from scratch, save it, and order when it is ready. Whatever you order, it is the same Shark system, built from the specifications you chose.
